Purdue Employees FCU is a nonprofit and member-owned credit union that serves stockholders, with all income returned to members in the form of more enviable rates, services and fees. The National Credit Union Administration insures Purdue up to $100,000 per member. PEFCU also provides an additional $250,000 of share insurance through Excess Share Insurance, up to a total of $350,000 per member. Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union was founded in 1969 by a group of Purdue University employees searching for a place where they, their families and their fellow employees could save and borrow money at a fair rate of interest. The efforts of those individuals resulted in a membership that numbered more than 400 university employees in the first year. After 30 years of service in the Greater Lafayette area, PEFCU has grown to serve more than 56,000 members around the world.
